Begin the journey just east of Genoa in the coastal town of Nervi. We continue down the southeast coast of the promontory of Portofino and the towns of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino. Then it's time return to the main coast and several destinations: Rapallo, Moneglia, La Spezia, Lerici and finally.
The town of Nervi near Genoa has been a complex more than one hundred years. Swimming is not recommended due to contamination of Genoa. Rapallo, population about thirty thousand, was initially established in the eighth century BC, perhaps by the Greeks and Etruscans. During the World War hosted a major conference and later became the site of two peace treaties, including Russian-German Treaty of Rapallo in 1922. All know how well it worked. Rapallo was once a major tourist center, but has not kept pace with the times. Do not miss the XI century cathedral of Saints Gervasio and Protasio with a large bell tower and paints. The Church of Santo Stefano, the first parish church in Rapallo, is the oldest building in the city. Century was built before XI. Other churches include the Church of San Francisco, the sixteenth-century Church of St. Francis of Assisi, the Shrine of the century XVI and XVII of Nostra Signora di Montallegro (Sanctuary of Our Montallegro Lady), and the thirteenth century the Monastery of Valle Christi, abandoned for more than four centuries because of the pirates. Moneglia whose population numbers approximately two thousand seven hundred is a quiet town destination that is less expensive than their more famous neighbors. Lerici, the population of about eleven thousand, marking the end of our Travel Riviera di Levante. Unfortunately, it also marked the end of the English poet Shelley who drowned in the Bay of Spezia to Lerici return to his beloved. Actually lived in the nearby town of San Terenzo. El Golfo di Lerici Golfo dei Poeti was renamed in honor of Shelley and his friend and fellow poet, Lord Byron.
