Bass Fishing Utah Lake

A trip to Lake Powell

As we make ready our last trip to Lake Powell, the time was one of the things that we had been keeping an eye. Cold fronts push through the northern part of Colorado were the most interest. chains of Denver said it was just north of I-70 corridor, we thought we were clear. The rain we had during the night and the morning had gone and found a wonderful evening. Load the rest of the cooler on the trailer and have it checked again to see if we were forgetting anything. Now it was a little before 18:00, a stop over for fuel and a cold drink for the road and were on their way. Coming west of Denver was the wind pickup and clouds in the mountains are not what the broadcasters had said so. Arriving in Idaho Springs we were in the heavy snow and traffic was reacting the changing climate. Snow stayed with us and slow journey along the mountains until we reached Glenwood Springs, then turned rain. Grand Junction was the next stop and we needed more fuel and even stopped during the night to get some sleep before traveling the next 200 miles or less from Bullfrog Marina. We stopped at a Walmart parking lot and went to fix the beds in van and realized he had forgotten sleeping bags in the cellar of the house. The good thing is that Wal-Mart is open all night. We went and found some sleeping bags Cheaper by $ 15 each, to use the facilities and we went to the truck.

The next morning we awoke to an absolutely beautiful day, sun, light breeze and almost all traffic to be processed. We took some food and headed for the road. As the last unit miles of I-70, the landscape begins in Colorado greatly change because trees are less and the desert landscape begins on all things in all directions. Growing up in northern Colorado and to be around trees and green fields on the desert landscape is a place I found great beauty in. When you arrive in Green River, Utah know that we are closer to reaching our destination. Now, the mind begins to think about all the things I had to do when we do get camping, so we can get the boat in the water and fish. Over the last 50-80 miles should be worse for a trip. By then mind and body are so eager to go out and do something that almost can not sit still, and the road seems to be getting longer rather than shorter. As we invade the hillside and see the booth to pay the park, we both give a great sigh, "they were there." We pay our entrance into the park and talk to participants about the lake and the fishing report, we are delighted by the beauty of the girl who was in training. Now, I think to me, the desert has to offer something beautiful eyes.

We dropped the boat off a large parking lot next to the door and entered Stanton Creek Campground to find a place to camp and a boat on the shore near us. We found a good place and I made a joking response my companion and I stuck a twig on the ground and said that "our flag, and we made this site." Being a Thursday, we had not much to worry about someone else out there and get established before being able to return to the boat, get the spear and head back to the site that had claimed.

With camp set up and the boat ready for fishing has taken a quick snack and flew into the water. The wind had picked up some and made the water a bit choppy but not bad. Go later in the day by the time that I created and decided to go on the water near the camp and not go to finger guns told us he had received reports of fish caught. We stopped along more Moki wall and off the platforms behind. We spent a few other fishermen and asked how was fishing and we had and wanted to know the secrets to getting big. The reports of these were not good, it seems that the cold fronts had been there yet, and fishing has been been very slow now. As we went to Moki Canyon wind was really starting to come together, and they want to be caught in the big water of high winds, they decided to return to the camp. Returning to camp after a hard journey through the lake, we discovered that the wind had its way to our camp as well. The sheet I was down and we put tables and chairs are not where they had placed prior to leaving. We managed to eat after dinner and get things better. The wind continued all night and the next morning to another departure date fishing at the last minute. Meanwhile he had spoken to some nearby fields and found that Hansen Creek had been very good for a couple that was there before Thursday came, the wind had caught under many smaller, but still no reports of Stripers being caught. We could take the boat around 15:00 that day and went directly to Hansen Creek. After there and leave out of our lines, but it was 20 minutes until my partner has the first fish. Proved to be a little as we thought it would be too large to maintain, but it was a fish. We stripers have taken more than the night before returning to camp. The next day, we could start early in the lake, but has not made anything up the end of the day, but it was better than the day we took several Doré all sizes maintenance of power. As we finished a few days short of our trip, that night we took things in our power to prepare for the afternoon next trip. We started very early the next morning with the hope that walleye continue to fight. This was not the case when we were skunked and had to return to the home with what we had captured in previous days. Overall we had a great trip, we had a safe driving to and from and left with about 15 pounds of fish fillets. I enjoyed my first visit to Lake Powell and is likely to be the intention to go back, but next time with a few more days to stay.
